Pulling Me Back In

I’ve got two big side-hustles right now. The first is writing and the second, neglected somewhat, is photography.  (Even further down is film and video work – but we’ll get to that in a sec).   Recently, thanks to a generous gift, I’ve gotten a Nikon Z6. And I’ve been learning how to use it from the ground up, like a newbie.  For most of my life, I worked with 35mm film cameras. Old ones. Manual focus, manual exposure ones. I didn’t get my first AF until the late 90’s.  A camera with continuous focus and eye-tracking for humans and pets (Upgrade your firmware, folks!) is a whole new ballgame for me.

It also opens up an option for real video work.

I’ve been looking for another way of expressing myself. I’m getting better with the blog entries, but I have options to do things now I could only dream about when I was a kid.

Why not play with them?

I did a little fiddling with Shotcut to create an Armored Trooper VOTOMS video (It’s still on YouTube! No takedowns yet!). But now… Well, I’m going to be experimenting with an opening video for this blog. There may be a few other changes as well.

Things are a comin’. Stay tuned.
