A Sunday Kind of Love (with Destiny Cameos)

I’m listening to WPFW today – A Sunday Kind of Love. It’s part of my regular routine on Sundays I’m not playing DnD with friends. I watch a movie with Tellus (usually a horror film, but anything on the short side) and then I go for a drive. I work from home, and am on Zoom meetings constantly. So, I escape into the world with a Sunday drive. This program accompanies me as I just wander into different parts of Montgomery or Howard Counties.

This weekend, though, I had something else hit me. And it hit me like, well…

Yes, that is eternal Destiny 2 raid boss Taniks, with a steel chair. The joke is he’s going to come out of any new raid all of the sudden. But, no, this steel chair was a sudden cold hitting the household. For me, the worst parts of any cold are the sleepless nights. Decongestants, etc. never help me get a decent night’s sleep strung together. It makes days when I can’t take off all that much harder.

Destiny 2 is my ‘shut my brain down and decompress’ game. Every night, for two hours after dinner, I play. Often with my friends, often solo. I’m one of the guys who plays for the story and the characters. I’m also one of the folks who was hit hard by Lance Reddick’s passing. Like many, I went to the Tower and paid my respects.

It’s odd how, even when sick and isolated, away from the world, I’m still able to connect in small ways. To a gaming community. To folks listening to a jazz station. To people dealing with sudden seasonal colds thanks to post-climate change weather patterns (The cherry blossoms are out! It’s also near freezing!) So, while I can’t do my normal routine – I can travel in my mind through the world, listening to Jazz, thinking about short stories and future projects.

We’re all connected in ways we can’t guess. Revel and celebrate those connections.
