The Delicate Sound of Thunder

What have I been up to? Has it been a rough July? Yes, it has. If you read my Doctor Who entry, you know I worked on the proposal as a distraction. By the end of July, though, my wife was tiring of the empty house and ‘singing songs to cats who aren’t there anymore.’

While planning and booking things for our 10th anniversary trip to Italy, we also looked around for cats to adopt. Up in Frederick, MD, there is apparently a cat colony. And a bunch of kittens were rescued. The mother, escaped, though…

We were looking for a bonded pair. What we found was a bonded pair and their sister:

Three cats: A tortie, a black cat mid blep, and another black cat.

The tortie is Lilly. She is my wife’s favorite and has big ‘bratty younger sister’ energy and feels like a new incarnation of my late cat Adia. The void with the blep is Sable. She’s a bit standoffish, though when she and Lilly have races in the morning, she is completely out there. Also, they sound like elephants.

Last but not least is our boy, Shadow. He not only is the put-on middle child, he also reminds me of Tellus as a kitten. Because Tellus and Adia also came from a litter rescued in Frederick, MD, with a mother that escaped capture I’d like to think they are now “Gruncle Tellus” and “Gruncle Adia” to the kittens.

Welcome to the chaos!
