2023: ZARDOZ SPEAKS TO YOU

Fun fact: Apparently, the film Zardoz takes place in the year 2023. What are my ambitions for this year then? Work out enough to look good in an orange diaper?

Likely not. My first goal will be survival. 2023 promises to be a chaotic year in the day job. I expect it will take much focus and energy to keep going. Which means my other projects will matter even more.  Anything and everything I can do to keep my soul intact. I need to focus on the road ahead. What general goals are involved there?

(1) Revise Phantom Killer – I’m 2/3rds of the way through my revisions. Really, a full re-writing. I have to finish it this year, and get it to people so I can see if there is anything worth shopping around.

(2) Continue short-story writing – I have to hone my craft. The short story market is getting tighter and tighter. Anything I can do to create a unique voice for myself.  And that holds true for my alter egotist as well. A.J. Harris is likely to be in two anthologies next year.

(3) Re-invigorate my video blogging and photography – My reserves were low this year.  All my VLOG ideas took up so much time and energy I didn’t have. I don’t know if this year will be different, but I have to try something.

(4) Support other artists. For example, my dear friend Angela is making her first horror film! Please, visit and support her. I’m so happy she found a community of like-minded folks.

(5) Conventions and Community – I’m going to try and speak at a few more conventions this year.  This will likely cement me as the ‘noir guy’ but I think I’m pretty happy with that idea.

Here’s to the road ahead. Take care, stay safe, and remember – you’re not driving it alone.

Sunset on the road.
